OCTA was invited to speak in a panel dedicated to Europe and youth engagement to present its activities focused on promoting the OCT Youth. On this occasion, OCTA was represented by the Vice-President of its Executive Committee, Mr. Atoloto Malau, the EU Representative of Wallis & Futuna.

As part of the round table, Mr. Malau presented the key actions of OCTA that target the young citizens of the OCTs. Youth is one of the key priorities of the Association, as foreseen in its 2021-2027 Strategy. Amongst the activities implemented by OCTA for the youth, he highlighted the “OCT Youth Week“, organised in October 2021, which brought together  13 young people from 8 OCTs for a 1-week visit to discover the European Institutions in Brussels and Strasbourg, with the goal to expand their knowledge on the European Union and its relation with the OCTs. He also discussed the OCTA Youth Days, a series of presentations on opportunities accessible to the OCT youth at EU level, which took place last May.

Mr. Malau also presented the work of OCTA to identify and promote opportunities for the OCT youth, notably through its collaboration with the European Commission, the National Erasmus+ Agencies from France, Denmark and the Netherlands, and, recently, with the AFD (Agence française de développement).
