EU funding

This section presents the main European programmes accessible to the Overseas Countries and Territories. The Overseas Association Decision (reference to be updated with the new OADG) grants access to OCTs to Union’s horizontal programmes in equal conditions to Denmark, the Netherlands and France respectively.

The European Union programmes aim to support EU policies and they are implemented through the Multiannual Financial Framework (currently on the 2021-2027).

In general, OCTs are eligible to the programmes managed directly by the European Union, that provide funding in the form of grants for specific projects in relation to EU policies, usually following a competitive ‘call for proposals’, where part of the funding comes from the EU, part from other sources.

Moreover, beyond the individual Union programmes, direct support is provided through the European Development Fund (EDF).
