Open calls for proposals under the Horizon Europe EU Missions on Adaptation to Climate Change

EU Missions are a novelty of the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme for 2021-2027. Their objective is to bring concrete solutions to some of the greatest challenges of our times, one of them being adaptation to climate change.

The Mission Adaptation to Climate Change provides a chance for regional and local actors to share and promote their ideas on adaptation to climate change. On a medium-term perspective, it aims to support at least 150 European regions and communities towards climate resilience by 2030, notably through funding opportunities under the Horizon Europe Work Programme 2021-2022|12. Missions.

In the context of this Mission, the following three calls for proposals are currently open, with a deadline on 12 April 2022. As to all Horizon Europe, OCTs are fully eligible to these calls:

  • HORIZON-MISS-2021-CLIMA-02-01: Development of climate change risk assessments in European regions and communities based on a transparent and harmonised Climate Risk Assessment approach (indicative budget €20M)
  • HORIZON-MISS-2021-CLIMA-02-02: Support to the regions in developing pathways towards climate resilience and corresponding innovation agendas (indicative budget €30M)
  • HORIZON-MISS-2021-CLIMA-02-04: Large scale demonstrators of climate resilience creating cross-border value (indicative budget €50M) – IMPORTANT: proposals to this call should be supported by Letter of Intent by the local authorities
