European Parliament adopts the EU4Health programme

On Tuesday, 9 March, the European Parliament approved by a large majority the new health programme for the 2021–2027 period, EU4Health, which aims to prepare EU health systems more rigorously for future health threats and pandemics. EU4Health will make a significant contribution to the post-COVID-19 recovery and will provide funding to EU countries, health organisations and NGOs.

The Programme budget is 5.1 billion EUR. A total of 20% of this envelope is to be reserved for health promotion and prevention and 12.5% for the creation of a European pharmacy of essential products to supplement national stocks in the event of a crisis.
