Biodiversity conservation and restoration
Endemia is a non-profit association whose purpose is to contribute to the knowledge, promotion and enhancement of the native biodiversity (endemic and indigenous) of New Caledonia. Since 2001, Endemia has been running the internet portal www.endemia.nc, enriched and used by everyone, passionate naturalists and the scientific community. Supported by local communities (particularly North and South provinces), Endemia is an essential reference on the flora and fauna of New Caledonia.
Since 2014, Endemia has been leading a local Red List authority (RLA: Red list authority) within the Species Conservation Commission (SSC) of the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) in order to assess the risk of extinction of all the flora of New Caledonia and to classify it on the world red list of threatened species of the IUCN.
