The EU Commission appoints first European Youth Coordinator

The European Commission has appointed Biliana Sirakova to the newly created position of EU Youth Coordinator to strengthen cooperation between all services on youth issues and to integrate their expectations into the different EU policies.

She will be “a visible point of contact and reference for young Europeans and the organisations that represent them”, summarised EU Innovation and Youth Commissioner Mariya Gabriel at a press conference.

The appointment of a European coordinator dedicated to youth had been suggested by the Commission when presenting the European Youth Strategy 2019-2027 in September 2018.
