Report available on the Online Event: The role of the EU in Ocean Diplomacy

The role of the EU in Ocean Diplomacy, organized by the European Parliament Intergroup on ‘Climate Change, Biodiversity and Sustainable Development’, took place on 21 April 2021. The webinar was organized in the context of the European Commission currently reviewing its approach to the management of the oceans through several initiatives such as the International Ocean Governance (IOG) Forum and the European Green Deal.

The event included keynote speeches from Virginijus Sinkevičius, European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, MEP Catherine Chabaud, and the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union: Ricardo Serrão Santos, Minister of Maritime Affairs, Portugal, as well as presentations and reactions from important institutional stakeholders.
