IOCARIBE 2021

OCTA will attend the Sixteenth Session of the UNESCO IOC Sub-Commission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (IOCARIBE) – Virtual Session, which will be held from 3 to 6 May 2021.

The agenda for the Virtual Session will focus on essential issues requiring attention, guidance, and collective actions of IOC Member States in the region. After briefly reviewing the Sub-commission progress over the last intersessional period, the session will hear the latest developments at the global level on the UN Ocean Decade and IOC programmatic strategy and further deliberate on the Sub-commission’s engagement in and contribution to the Decade. The Sub-commission will be expected to formulate its work plan and budget for 2022–2023 and elect its Officers.

In the context of the discussion on Enhancing IOCARIBE exposure in the sustainable ocean economy, OCTA will have a short presentation of the upcoming Blue Economy Study currently under development.
