Draft conclusions of the Council of the European Union on Blue Economy

The Council of the EU will shortly adopt conclusions on a “sustainable blue economy: health, knowledge, prosperity, social equity“.

The text emphasises “the importance of promoting a sustainable blue economy which facilitates a proper distribution of ocean wealth and ensures fair and decent working conditions, as well as equal opportunities for all“.

The conclusions also call for “multilateral actions and structured cooperation to address global problems, including the livelihood of islands, ocean–dependent communities and the EU outermost regions and overseas countries and territories“.
