Qeqqata Municipality

The Municipality of Qeqqata was formed on January 1, 2009, when the Sisimiut and Maniitsoq Municipality were merged. The municipality is the southernmost municipality and is intersected by the Arctic Circle south of the village of Itilleq. The population of the Municipality is a little less than 10,000 people.

The municipality houses Greenland’s largest airport, Kangerlussuaq, which serves both domestic and international routes and which connects Greenland’s vital air traffic.
