Stichting Kinderhuis Imeldahof Aruba (Children's Home Imeldahof Foundation)

Children’s Home Imeldahof is a Non-Governmental Organization that offers temporary shelter and guidance for boys and girls who, due to certain circumstances, cannot live with their parents or caregivers.

The organization was founded in 1976 as a private foundation and is subsidized by the Government. Furthermore, the organization is dependent on the community for financial and voluntary support. The objective of the children’s home is to offer a temporary home and guidance for children who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to remain in their own homes. In most cases, this is until placement with their own family or relatives or a foster family can be found.

Children with specific emotional and behavioral problems are guided by a specialist in deviant behavior (remedial educationalist). In addition, there is a general program constructed which provides group activities such as ballet-, music-, taekwondo lessons and, arts and crafts. Also, the children attend elementary and secondary education near Stichting Kinderhuis Imeldahof.
