Biodiversity conservation and restoration
The Dayu Biik Association aims to carry out all actions that contribute to the protection of the natural heritage of the municipality of Hienghène and in particular the conservation of the biodiversity of Mont Panié.
The Dayu Biik association was created in 2004 with the support of the NGO Conservation International and the North Province. The association is managed by members of the local community. It is responsible for the development of a participatory conservation program for the Mont Panié wilderness reserve (IUCN status 1b) aimed at preserving the rich natural and cultural heritage of the region and promoting the development of economic activities in line with nature conservation and environmental education.
